People

People are inevitable you meet them everywhere

In the streets in the city in the farm and in the fair

Some are stitched in the veneers of your family

Some are gifted as friends you accept gratefully

There are those that belong to an utterly avoidable kind

They are capable of driving you out of your mind

Welcome home. This earth is our abode – an eclectic jungle

You learn which berries are poisonous and with which animals to mingle

Some make you happy when you meet and greet them

Some continue to grumble even after you treat them

People bend the rules and the jungle becomes chaotic

After flattening the curve they go in search for some special magic

People come in all forms and shapes and sizes

Love hate anger resentment judgement their world comprises

Of a lot of sentiments which often lead to complication

They use fists instead of cooperation and avarice in place of emotion

Each one believes he is different and oh so distinctive

People remain people eventually all action and reaction instinctive

You cannot live without them. Living with them is not easy either

They can make your life heaven they may not spare you of hell either

The singular omniscient source of learning they mete out experiences

They can be hazardous in rebel form you must teach them obedience

People. Love them hate them meet them shun them. It’s their realm

The reason why you reap what you sow is that you too are one of them

Thin line

There is a thin subtle line between a smile and a frown

It will determine how people treat you on your way down

On your way up its always bright and sunny and exciting

Downhill from the plateau of life you will need more lighting

There is a thin subtle line between street smart and wise

It will determine how you treat people and what you prize

There is smartness in self-interest you can race like the hare

The prudent tortoise has the last laugh even when life is not fair

There is a thin subtle line between honesty and chicanery

It will determine how you juggle judgements and oil machinery

There are plenty of short-term benefits when truth is brokered

What would you look back upon in life when memories are blurred

There is a thin subtle line between affection and affectation

It will determine how you uphold love and its qualification

Remember what you give the world is exactly measure to measure

What you will get back. So always give that which you treasure

There is a thin subtle line between what you see and what you don’t

It will determine how you view the world and what the world wont

Tell you. Now you have to realize where you have been missing out

When you didn’t see the underlying fluxes hiding behind the pout

There is a thin subtle line between ambition and contentment

It will determine the mood of your journey and its enjoyment

Sometimes you may miss your target and still not stay empty handed

Sometimes you may reach the end and still feel stranded

Once upon a time

We used to have playgrounds parks and greenery

Where we could run and play and blend in the scenery

We used to have free time once upon a time

We could use it to have fun without spending a dime

My children listen skeptically having vaguely heard of it

Generation next may simply consider such fabrications unfit

We used to have this big black box called the telephone

There even used to be classes where tele-etiquette was honed

We could call up relatives far away shouting at the top of our voice

Neighbors heard our conversations by default there was no choice

My children listen sympathetically whilst playing on their iPhone

Generation next may simply consider it archaic as they control their drone

We used to have schools which imparted education

It was not exactly a work from home kind of situation

We did our homework enjoyed our sports and rarely got bored

We never had computers and calculators we never learnt cheat codes

My children listen dumbfounded at our wearisome schedule

Generation next may simply consider such a school rather uncool

We used to visit relatives in far off places during holidays

To pass our time without devices we would device our own ways

We had never heard of ‘quality time’ or exotic vacations

Lush fields local bazars colloquial joints were our go to locations

My children listen astonished how we survived without internet

Generation next may simply consider it too implausible even to fret

We used to enjoy this thing called life with all its fun and strife

No google no fb no twitter ignorance was bliss and bliss was rife

And then we grew up and changed the rules and our children lost the way

We made the maze more complicated competition ruled the day

My children listen bewildered they never asked to be deprived of childhood

Generation next may simply consider our demands and expectations rude

On the other side of the fence

On the other side of the fence

While you are preparing your defense

Somebody also does not realize

Another point of view can coexist and comprise

So when we finally come face to face for a tete a tete

Argument becomes norm and listening is a feat

On the other side of the fence

While you are dissenting and being dense

Somebody also is formulating

His reason with a rigor intimidating

So when we finally bring our talk to the table

That a coin can have two sides now sounds like fable

On the other side of the fence

While you are still cleaning your lens

Somebody also dwells upon blurred vision

Neither is willing to rework and do revision

So when we finally meet to figure out the why

We can’t find common ground and can’t see eye to eye

On the other side of the fence

While you are claiming greater intelligence

Somebody also wants to endorse his brainpower

This tussle of intellect turns into a show of power

So when we finally realize there can be a fresh interpretation

We have gone past pragmatism and beyond arbitration

On the other side of the fence

While you are giving yourself importance immense

Somebody also claims his place under the sun

Mulish moods persist and you stick to your guns

So when we finally can admit to a different point of view

We have let so much water under the bridge that deluge is due

So many reasons to be happy

Plant a sapling. Grow a tree. Watch with pride and you will agree

The immense pleasure to nurture nature gives off joy for free

In life you may have many occasions to lose cool and turn snappy

Remember yet there are always so many reasons to be happy

Go for a trek. Use your feet. Leave stress and strain back home

See the sky converge on earth enwrapping enchanting sunsets chrome

Verdant foothills. Enthusiastic springs. It clears the head and makes you peppy

Escape into a scenery reminding you there are so many reasons to be happy

Talk to a child. Be soft be mild. Get away from grown-up issues occasionally.

Their innocent chatter on topics that don’t matter and ability to love unconditionally

Where adults plan so much they lose the plot till mind and body feel crappy

Keep your inner child alive and you will learn of so many reasons to be happy

Meet old friends. Don’t let relations end. Life is not offering retakes or a sequel

And time has its own agenda. If the feelings are mutual the effort will be equal

Without an eclectic range of family and friends we are bound to become crabby

Mix and match memories. Seek and you will find so many reasons to be happy

Smile more often. Laugh louder. It does not cost much to be cheerful

A world without problems is stranger still. It takes little to be morose and tearful

Real pleasure lies in little things a crush an autograph a road trip a toy so flappy

A pet an old photograph shared celebrations… so many reasons to be happy

Make it a habit to give. Try harder to forgive. Purge yourself for your own good

Wealth is fine. Yet draw the line. Find a mean and live the life you should

Sans greed control only chaos will unfold eventually making you sloppy

The same wealth can be bane simply being humane gives so many reasons to be happy

I still remember

I still remember the days I prayed for the things I have now

I tend to take them for granted today then I used to wonder how

I would achieve aims and goals I did not even dare to dream

I would stitch each dream with hope and expectation at the seam

I still remember my search for happiness led me to amassing

I stopped for a breather and realized this pleasure was passing

I now know it’s not happy people who are thankful

I now know its thankful people who are happy and cool

I still remember the people who came in my life for a reason

I believe their presence helped me learn with each changing season

I treasured some I respected some others taught me bitter lessons

I can look back today and forgive. With each forgiving the pain lessens

I still remember shared laughter over a hot cup of coffee with friends

I still recall those days of sheer craziness those nights without ends

I realize recollection is selective and chooses to filter unpleasant retentions

I learn from a wrong turn and then I simply shun those avoidable tensions

I still remember how time weaved its way through moments and memories

I did not want it to leave my timepiece it moved on like the breeze

I slowly learnt how passage of time brushes pains and gains along the way

I don’t want to spoil the ending for you but everything is going to be okay

thank you

There is always a way

Never let your fears decide your day

There is always a way

Yes there will be anxieties yes there will be snags

There will be those days when your spirit simply drags

You wish to reach out for the stars but your fortune lags

Your confidence is on the edge and the shoulder sags

Keep it simple just kneel down and pray

There is always a way

Never let your character be affected by what people say

There is always a way

Yes it is not easy yes it is not stress-free

Character building takes honest hard work I agree

People will not appreciate or grasp judgements are for free

They are not in your shoes and typically enjoy your misery

Look deep into the mirror and if you like what you see, stay

There is always a way

Never let cynicism hold sway

There is always a way

Yes optimism may sound naïve yes ideals may give deals raw

Keep faith keep courage keep constructive thoughts at the core

When life shuts a door go open it once more

It’s a door that’s how they work so just make sure

There is always a silver lining to all clouds gray

There is always a way

Never let your uniqueness fade in the fray

There is always a way

Yes everyone wants you to clone yes you will be prone

To follow herd and stick to the security it offers not hone

Your built-in talent a personality to be nurtured and grown

History speaks of the ones who chose a path hitherto unknown

You don’t have to rebel you don’t have to obey

There is always a way

What is it?

Some expressions do not need words

Some words are expressionless and vacant

I am searching for something deeper in your eyes

What is the color of commitment?

Some relations do not need endorsements

Some endorsements cannot be counted as relations

I am searching for something sincere in your promise

What is the backcloth of obligations?

Some actions do not need words to explain

Some explanations sound empty without action

I am searching for something steady in your stance

What is the timbre of temptation?

Some cares do not need assertions

Some assertions are not evidence of care

I am searching for something hidden in nonchalance

What is pitch of real and rare?

Some emotions do not need display

Some displays are not necessarily emotive

I am searching for something implicit in an endeavor

What is the set point of sensitive?

Some dispositions do not need judgements

Some judgements tend to become predisposed

I am searching for something impartial in the glance

What is parameter of repose?

Some quests do not need so much introspection

Some introspection has expanded my quest

I am searching for something that will give me answers

What is the limitation of request?

Some smiles do not reach the eyes

Some eyes reveal more than a smile ever would

I am searching for essence in conversations

What is the configuration of mood?

Some moments are stolen from time and preserved

Some time just flies away without logging the moment

I am searching for leisure in the middle of a steeplechase

What is the profile of enrichment?

Relation ‘ships’: some rock some rock your boat!

Relations need to be nurtured. Liked those pretty potted plants

Not everyone has a green thumb. Everyone has that eccentric aunt

Juggling different temperaments dealing with peculiar idiosyncrasies

You need a little heart a little hardiness to handle delicate intricacies

Families are what you are born with friends are who you choose

Both are equally precious and precarious not something you should loose

Caveats can drive you crazy but craziness can create finest memories

You never know sometimes outrageous reactions help you lose calories

Charity begins at home they say known devils are so much more fun

So love your relatives make sure you are rich till you are dusted and done

Have a home near the sea keep a bottle of salt handy a pinch may not be enough

Don’t take life seriously letting go is the key when the ship of relations runs on waters rough

Friends are those unpaid therapists who share the same mental disorder

Friends are the ones who keep your insanity intact with rational fodder

Over the years friends know you so well they turn into family

There is comfort in knowing that whenever you feel alone you will not be lonely

Only those who care about you can hear you when you are quiet

Walk away from bad vibes and stay focused on positive and bright

You might upset a lot of folks when you start doing what is best for you

Sometimes your circle may decrease in size but will increase in value

Sometimes people move away sometimes you need to outgrow

You can be a good person with a kind heart and still say no

Learn to discern between fake and true keep your feelings in reserve

Know the difference between what you are getting and what you deserve

Your relationship does not need to make sense to anyone except the one

It’s a relationship not a community project that you reveal everything under the sun

Once you figure out what respect entails you will learn the distinction

Between the two heady emotions respect tastes better than attention

Sometimes a stranger on the subway does a kind deed for you

It leaves you with a warm fuzzy feeling driving away the blues

Some relations are forged with effort some need to undergo scrutiny

While some just walk into your lives and we call it destiny

Don’t let misunderstandings ruin relationships and run them to ground

Don’t let misgivings wreck your feelings hurried decisions are unsound

You give your best then leave it sometimes divine intervention is profound

Afterall God has heard the conversations when you were not around

Plan A

If it does not open it’s not your door

If a chance is missed you will get many more

If Plan A does not work just remember

There are 25 more alphabets to consider

You are born to be real not perfect

You must concentrate on strength not defect

You own your dreams and do what counts

When you learn how much you are worth you will stop giving discounts

Bloom where you are planted dig deep strengthen the root

The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit

Each step you take each thing you learn each effort is stimulating

Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming

There is plenty of room at the top if you believe

There is success and then some learning experiences to relive

Verily you discover rock bottom has a basement

Brush off the moss and move on every chapter in your life is itinerant

And once you have invested your best simply let it go

The results will all come in due time just watch your actions grow

Destinies are scripted apiece with grace and chutzpah

I trust the next chapter because I know the author
