Thin lines

It’s not about having time. It’s about making time

For others for yourself for unseeable things sublime

Did you detect the dew on those roadside bougainvillea

Should you call someone today and say how much you missed her

Will you finish that book your kids recommended

Or would you rather fish for excuses and then defend it

It’s not about creating happiness. We often overthink it

There is something good in every moment. Find it and keep it

Happiness is an inside job. If you let someone else decide

Then that’s the limit of cheerfulness by which you must abide

Focus on hurt and you suffer it only begets resentment

Be the reason someone smiles today and experience contentment

It’s not about perfection. It’s about consistency and passion

Don’t trade your authenticity for approval steel your intention

It’s so easy for them to sit on the sidelines and criticize the game

When they are not even playing it yet keep passing on the blame

Your life is yours. Own it. See – that’s the thing with tables

They always turn around so that you can dispel fears and fables

Its not about reaching destination. The journey gradually molds clay

Little by little day by day what is meant for you will find its way

Work hard in silence then let success be your noise

You get what you work for not what you wish for. It’s your choice

Be grateful for your struggles they lead you onto your strengths

Beware of negative thinking and thinkers that can cause indents

Springtime

Hope springs eternal

We try. We fall. We break. We fail

We realize our vulnerability we are frail

But then we rise. We heal. We overcome

There is courage within. And then some

Never give up. We are born to survive

Never give in. In adversity we thrive

The human being was born with a reason

Turning your back on life is treason

We live. We love. We hurt. We betray

We recognize our shortcomings we sway

But then we reboot. We heal. We overcome

There is strength within. And then some

Never give up. We are born to bestow

Never give in. We can control the flow

The human being was born with a heart

And heart is a very good place to start

We grow. We stumble. We hesitate. We continue

We grasp our potential we follow the retinue

But then we rethink. We heal. We overcome

There is understanding within. And then some

Never give up. We are born to rule

Never give in. We have brainpower the tool

The human being was born to the manor

Intellect is the key separating him from another

We strive. We fulfil. We aspire. We choose

We are responsible for our choices win or loose

But then we relearn. We heal. We overcome

There is wisdom within. And then some

Never give up. We are born to succeed

Never give in. We are a hard-wearing breed

The human being was born to brave

Lucifer’s designs. Not for us to rant and rave

If yes then say so….

If you are lost in revelry and not listening to a word of what was said

If you are keeping cool and calm when everyone else is losing their head

Ask someone to explain the situation to you (if they haven’t yet fled)

If you have lots of troubles be sure only tell them to your foes

They are the only ones who really want to listen to all your woes

And take delight in it. Friends will follow you wherever the path goes

If pride tips the scale slightly self-worth expands into ego and we view

Each achievement as our own. Somebody who contributed does not get His due

He feels, “How can you possibly be a self-made man; I specifically recall creating you”

“If you missed the sunrise today never mind. I will make you another one tomorrow”

Which omnipotent force can make such a promise! There is reverence to show

Life is gratitude living is attitude from clay to the man who conquers space we grow

If man spends a lifetime making money they will call him a fool for not spending

If man spends it after following their advice they ask why his lifestyle is not upending

Some folks have special talents for inquisitiveness asking questions unending

If we cannot count the numbers correctly we cannot flatten the curve

Ignorance is flaunted rules are trounced and truth is kept in reserve

So this is how we go about saving a genus called mankind to preserve

If we learn from all our mistakes then what will we repeat

If we work from home and grow flippers what will we do with our feet

Life is full of conundrums we cannot overcome. Thus we learn to cheat

If a person doesn’t have one sense then all their other senses are amplified

That’s why those without sense of humor have sense of self-importance magnified

Now that I cracked this truism I can recount the ones of whom I am petrified

If we are not learning life lessons when there is a world-wide calamity

If lockdown did not bring out in us  chef  cleaner  leader just any ability

Then I promise you we are fighting two viruses corona and stupidity

Stakes

They were giving away smiles and I went to collect mine

Some beautiful ones were costly the honest ones were fine

I picked some randomly and realized there was a thin line

Smiles that shone past veiled aching were the most divine

They were distributing happiness and I wanted my share

I thought my portion of tears and empathy had helped me prepare

I realized how important it was to invest compassion and care

In order to gain true happiness intent had to be laid bare

They were bestowing wisdom and I queued up to get more

I assumed these strands of white will help me qualify for sure

But maturity has little to do with age chronology is no cure

Five senses combined with common sense brings sensibleness to the fore

They were awarding stars and I felt I must augment my sparkle

To seize the brightest ones I had to step out my protective circle

Some graciousness some gratefulness and I could fashion a miracle

I now know how to make wishes come true your energy is your oracle

They were dispensing pain and nobody wanted any

The sprightlier counters of hope and dreams had takers many

I ventured out of curiosity and then took note of an irony

Pain imparted invaluable lessons like savings for a spell rainy

They were allocating courage but only after a reality check

You had to acquire honesty and kindness first from the sundeck

A sense of justice a load of patience and to give biases a break

And alongside courage self-confidence was free for yours to take

They were allotting wishes and I did not know what I wanted

I already had so many things that I always took for granted

My privileges and my attitude made my world view slightly slanted

If I identified what to wish for realization would be guaranteed

Autumn leaves

As if nature has been saving up on its beauty

For a grand finale with acuity

Autumn comes with wind and gold

It’s a magical season I am told

Fallen leaves are dancing gaily in the breeze as if on the run

The warm earth is sprinkled with brown sugar and cinnamon

Autumn is here to remind us things must fall to rise again

It glows and glimmers after gravel is dampened by the rain

Summer is collapsing on sunburnt leaves

Each leaf gracefully aware it is time to leave

Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go

Making place for new futures to sow

Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall

It speaks of hope and faith stands tall

Autumn paints in shades so rich red orange and amber

My favorite color is October

Across overcast moods I thought life was a thing I could not fix

Smiles and frowns ups and downs it was an assorted mix

Autumn taught me how to weather changing seasons

If there is one to cry about to be glad there are many more reasons

Just as verse enhances language uplifting thought process

The splendor of equinox juxtaposes tumbling leaves and its mess

Autumn with its flaking foliage is akin to poetry in motion

It fills life-force with sunniness and ambiance with emotion

What if

What if you went off to sleep one day and woke up a few years later

What if the castle changed its colors and time had turned a traitor

What would you miss doing the most how would you now catch up

Who would your eyes search for first with whom would your memory match up

What if time went in snooze mode in these intermittent years

What if you slumbered through life motions with unfounded fears

What if you never gave yourself a chance to glance at the mirror and reflect

What if you forgot what you looked like and paused for a break to inspect

What if you let the rest of the world dictate your being and thought

What if you never verified what you were fed and now you are distraught

How would you mend the meanderings how would you bend the space

What would it take to open your eyes to new realities you now have to face

What if you realize the basis of truths and the source of lies told

Where would you seek the courage to challenge it and become bold

How would you steel your nerves to admit fault then stand corrected

How would you reject dishonesties and have your truths resurrected

What if life was beckoning you all the while and you turned your face away

What if you mistook opportunities as hurdles and refused to go that way

What if catnapping drained your energy and you did not take cue

What if you never even tried out of the fear that your fears will come true

What if consciousness was designed in intangibles smiles care families friends

What if after running behind material paybacks the vicious circle never ends

What if you slept through lifespans with eyes wide open and hearts closed

How would you wish to rewrite the script what retentions would you oppose

Plan A

If it does not open it’s not your door

If a chance is missed you will get many more

If Plan A does not work just remember

There are 25 more alphabets to consider

You are born to be real not perfect

You must concentrate on strength not defect

You own your dreams and do what counts

When you learn how much you are worth you will stop giving discounts

Bloom where you are planted dig deep strengthen the root

The day you plant the seed is not the day you eat the fruit

Each step you take each thing you learn each effort is stimulating

Trust the wait. Embrace the uncertainty. Enjoy the beauty of becoming

There is plenty of room at the top if you believe

There is success and then some learning experiences to relive

Verily you discover rock bottom has a basement

Brush off the moss and move on every chapter in your life is itinerant

And once you have invested your best simply let it go
