Competition is the key – go for gold

As a child, I was forever told

Be the best, forget the rest. Go for gold.

On adult marketing strategies I was sold,
The good times rolled. I went for gold.

As I grew up and stepped out of the fold
It seemed futile, but I carried on my quest for gold

Caught in a quagmire, stuck in a mould
Breaking new grounds, expectations tenfold

Go, they egged, just go for the gold!
Then one day markets crashed, investors turned cold

Life was on hold. Dramas unfold.
Don’t, they said, ever go for gold.

Let the dice roll. Do the untold
Whoever asked you to be so bold?

Or even think of going for the gold?
Tables turned, destinies churned. Lo behold!

Here I am – hand on gold, bold, cold and unsold.
