Goodbyes

Goodbyes are hardest, parting is never fun
Yet each and every one of us is always on the run.
We meet, we love, we gain, and we give and forgive
Then somewhere down the line, we forget to live.

Commitments. Appointments. Beating the rush hour traffic
Carefully laid out business strategies, future plans are graphic
But when it comes to relationships, we tend to procrastinate
Tomorrow never comes; just memories to ruminate.

The only real reality is never considered real
The realm of dreams seems true, subconscious is surreal.
We dance with the stars, crushing gentle flowers beneath
Real feelings, real relations, real time we die and bequeath

Our sensibilities take a knocking, we wake up and learn
That when a close one crosses the land of no return
What we thought as real and valid and true all along
Meets an irreversible process only to prove us wrong.

Is what we run after all our life a mere delusion?
Is death the ultimate reality, life but an illusion?
In the examination of existence it turns out quite a flier
Damn the end; defy the definite, oh how we worship ‘Maya’
