What irks isn’t work

Does material wealth delineate your happiness?
Holiday homes, cars, gold and designer dress?
Is life in the lap of luxury the culmination all of life?
Is that for which you strive to overcome strife?

Do you define your work or work defines you?
Are you slave to your duty, your subordinate signs you?
So central, so essential, the money you are after?
To relegate priorities, the fun and the laughter?

Office, workplace, hotel and conference room
Where amidst of all this is the place for home?
Secretary, staff, customers and boss
Who gains from your personal loss?

Work is worship, it’s not to shun or shirk
But a balance is imperative to enjoy the perk.
You may not even realize when you go overboard
Even after earning millions, time you cannot afford.

Multi layered experiences add to the sheen
If in life and its dealings you could maintain a mean
When lack of time gives way to hurt or neglect
Relations intricate refusing to resurrect.
