Don’t take them for granted

From little baby steps to fore, we need a helping hand.
Most ardent arguments often do need supportive stand
Perceptions, opinions, attitudes underline apprehension
You need to share your joy, someone to dispense tension.

Sociologists say need begets need; man is a social animal
As he grows he slowly learns to adjust and be affable
Maladjustment in society are not given space,
We need to interact and bond. We are the human race.

We need to build opinions of self-worth from our self-doubt
We need one another, we need to reach out.
Trust can be tender, love’s a feeling you don’t smother
Something explains the tag, ‘made for each other.’

We open our eyes and see our loved ones around us
Their warmth and acceptance forever surround us.
As we grow up we learn to complicate each emotion.
Sometimes we love the undeserving if it gets us promotion.

Why do we walk into the traps that we ourselves create?
Why do we smile for strangers and at home stay irate?
Why do we try so hard to please the unrelated?
While wishes for those within precinct somehow come belated?

Family and friends must never be taken for granted,
‘Tis only but a matter of time till outsiders leave you enchanted.
Those who bear your idiosyncrasies, see you through thick or thin
Are none other than backslapping buddies and your close kin.
