Elements defy description. They swallow
Up words and some more
There is only an extent to which they allow
There is only a part which comes to fore
Of unpredictable and raw strength
You cannot unleash nor harness
The rudiments reveal but only a tenth
With inherent warning not to mess
Can you trap flaming burst of the sun?
The abundance of light it gives away
In a cage of glass and think it done
You can’t even catch a ray!
Fire exudes a fear so absolute
Proximity can only give strife
Yet it is this power so brute
Which is the giver of life?
Can the sheer contradicting ability
Of water be foretold
The same azure blue tranquillity
Can cause destruction tenfold
Much like a smooth knife slicing butter
Water has its own quiet faults
The serenity of a lake so utter
Awesome and eerie when it revolts
Can the winds be made to change its course?
And requested to rescind or retreat
Can the human force and all its resource
Survive it, revive it, dominate or beat?
Gently blowing off the shore
Now and then it fashions poetry
Sometimes it simply shifts the core
Of entire expanses in its trajectory
I don’t know what to make of it
Was each element created for assistance?
For when unbridled then every bit
Works to eliminate my existence
Staring at the dark abysmal depth
Of an incredible cavernous universe
Off our senses and feet we are swept
Not one expression can be rehearsed
The subdued hues of natural green
Streaked with cerise and Prussian strokes
Bewitch senses with shimmer and sheen
An overpowering nous of awe it stokes
Vastness and variety nuance and trait
In full bloom nature never fails to impress
Tints and shades from an endless palette
It gives freely with care and caress
Yet when things go awry each element mutinies
Crackling and whipping across veneers
It lashes out with equal finesse
Inadvertently rearing unfathomable fears
Man should not destroy
What man cannot rebuild
He has no right to use decoy
He has to repay and repair the guilt
The gift of nature, each force a beauty
He has been given to take care and relish
Shouldn’t there prevail some sense of duty
Lest force turns brutal enough to admonish
The seemingly contrasting powers therein
In reality do not clash with our interest
This whole rondure was actually built
To serve man well and provide him the best!
